From satellite images to administrative decisions: Effective use of geospatial and remote sensing data in local government
- | Ratsplenarsaal | German
Local governments face major challenges: climate adaptation, the protection of critical infrastructure, sustainable land management, and, at the same time, increasingly tight budgets. In this technical session, we would like to explore how Earth observation data and services can help local governments carry out their tasks in a more sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective manner. The CoKliP and UrbanGreenEye projects will be presented. Using concrete application examples, we will demonstrate how these projects support municipalities in their daily work and can create an improved data foundation for planning, monitoring, and climate adaptation.

Workshop on AIAMO – Artificial Intelligence And Mobility in Leipzig
- | Room 369 | German
To what extent can artificial intelligence and incentive measures optimize mobility in a growing city like Leipzig—and what are the limits of technical solutions? Starting from the current situation in the Leipzig pilot region, we will discuss specific scenarios together: from AI-supported traffic management at construction sites to behavioral changes driven by incentive mechanisms in a mobility app.

How generative artificial intelligence is changing work and study (conducted by ScaDS.AI)
- | Room 377 | German
Modern AI-driven chat apps such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and others are changing the way we work unavoidably. For many, this means writing texts or programming more efficiently. Some people overestimate the quality of generated text and may not admit that they have not curated AI-generated text properly. About 20 years ago we had to learn how to “google” properly, today we need to learn how to “prompt”. In this lecture, we will give an insight into various challenges that the current AI revolution is imposing on us and a number of opportunities in this context. The lecture gives examples, tips and tricks for dealing with Generative AI and will be followed by a practical part. It is recommended that you bring your own laptop to take part.

Young people and AI – What they know and how they use it (conducted by Leipzig City Libraries)
- | Room 259 | German
In this workshop, we take a look at how AI is used by young people aged 12 to 16 from an educational perspective. We present how Leipzig's municipal libraries are addressing the topic of AI together with schoolchildren and what insights this has yielded for our educational work. We discuss how the exchange with young people has opened up new perspectives for us and what challenges and opportunities arise when dealing with AI.
