Symposium for people from culture and digitalisation

Trude Richter lives as a digital avatar in the City History Museum, Schauspiel Leipzig has performed its first play with a hamster and VR glasses, and on New Year’s Eve the Gewandhaus Orchestra streamed Beethoven’s 9th on second screen. Digitalisation is taking place on stage. But only there? We are putting culture on the Data Week agenda. The Strategic Cultural Policy Department and the Digital Department are jointly inviting you to Leipzig on 11 June 2025. For one day, we will take a look at the backstage, the backend and the control centre of cultural institutions. This invitation is aimed at colleagues from cultural institutions in Central Germany. No matter where they work: from the stage to the museum, from the library to the festival, from the subsidised art project to the traditional house. The focus is on the interest in exchanging ideas about culture and digitalisation.

Program

Participation in the symposium is free of charge. Registration for the symposium is a prerequisite for participation.

Arrival (from 9:30 am)

Morning (10:00 - 12:00)

• Auctioning problems: Is it all a question of the right approach? We auction off problems submitted by participants to experts. Printed rosters, data that disappears in silos or missing programmers who are passionate about art and culture. The invited experts take on the submitted problems and develop solutions together with the participants.

In the afternoon (13:00 - 17:00)

• Panels and exchange formats on the topics of cultural data and digital forms of work. The invited experts will address the problems submitted and develop ideas for solutions together with the participants.

  • Panel 3: Events at a glance: Calendar and communication strategies
